In today’s smartphone market, when someone is buying a phone, one wants more features and specs for a reasonable price. If your budget is around 20-25k it’s definitely not possible to buy flagships from OnePlus or Samsung or Apple. One could buy the iPhone SE or the Samsung A7 or A5 but since they haven’t garnered much success, we aren’t gonna stress on that issue. The new ZTE Nubia M2 does just that.

For 25,000 you get more than what you asked for. So let’s take a look at the specifications of the Nubia M2.

The Nubia M2 is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor as opposed to the Mediatek processors that the Chinese manufacturers often use. Although a Snapdragon 653 or 652 is pretty much expected. With 64-bit architecture and eight cores clocked at 2.0 GHz, one can do absolutely anything. You might not wanna over do it though as the phone does heat up a little after hectic usage.

Let’s move on to the design. The Nubia M2 comes in two colours; the black and the gold. On the back, we can spot dual cameras along with the flash which is nice and the Nubia logo….do not forget the headphone jack on the top! On the front, we got the home key, a secondary camera and down bottom, we got a speaker and a charging port. The back is of a metal unibody design and looks really good to feel and is sturdy. The home key has the fingerprint sensor integrated.

Now, onto the features. Nubia M2 boasts of a super AMOLED 1920×1080 5.5 inch display. In this price range, it’s one of the best. Viewing angles and colour rendition are also at the best level. The screen also has Corning Gorilla Glass protection so, one can say that Nubia has really stepped up to improve their picture quality.

The primary camera consists of two cameras A 13MP RGB sensor and another 13MP Monochromatic sensor, both of which are protected by a sapphire glass lens and features Neovision 6.0 camera technology. And has Phase detection autofocus. The secondary camera consists of a 16MP camera with flash for selfie lovers.

Other features include a gigantic 4GB ram which for today’s day to day use, Is more than enough. It also has a TAS2555 sound chip for better quality sound along with Dolby sound support. Also, it has an Adreno 506 GPU which is enough to play most of the games on the Play store.

The device is released in 2 internal memory variants: 64 and 128GB which can be upgraded to 200 GB via an SD card. The Nubia M2 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow (which, according to recent reports, can be updated to Nougat) with Nubia 4.0 running on top of it. The device comes with 3630 mAh battery and a USB Type-C port which supports Neopower Fast charging technology. The battery will last for a whole day with normal usage. It’s a dual SIM smartphone, both of the slim slots are GSM and other connectivity options include GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Hotspot.

M2 Lite: What’s the difference?M2 Lite

And for those looking for an even better bargain, Nubia have toned down their M2 just a little and released the Nubia M2 lite for 13,999/-. The features are almost the same. Let’s talk about that as well.

We don’t have the dual camera setup in this one and for that price category, I think that 13 MP is huge. But don’t worry though, we still have a 16MP front facing the camera with soft LED flash, 5P lens, Aperture f/2.0 and a wide angle lens.

It’s released in the Black-Gold edition, with a 5.5 inch 1280×720 IPS display. Rest of the design is quite the same.

Jumping into the features, this is what marks the difference between the M2. We have a Mediatek MT6750 octa-core processor( I knew you weren’t gone) clocked at 1.5 GHz along with the Mali-7860 MP2 GPU. So, heavy action video games and heavy working apps should be sidetracked a little. It’s backed by 4 gigs of RAM and 32 GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 128 via an SD card, so that’s another plus for this price range.

The device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmellow skinned with the company’s own Nubia 4.0 UI running on top of it. The juice is reduced a little bringing it down to 3000 mAh and we’re still not sure whether it supports quick charging.

Both smartphones hold up very nicely in their respective price category. But since we’re talking about flagships, let’s put aside the M2 lite. The M2 is available in two price tags 300$ and 390$ depending on internal storage. “Nubia as a brand identifies with the youth. In India we see young people with a lot of energy, passion and desire to do more in society,” says Nubia India Country Head Eric Hu. But the question remains, “Can one give 25,000 for Nubia when Oneplus and other popular companies like Lenovo, Motorola etc have better specs and other cool features for almost the same or lesser price range?” comment out below.

M2 is yet to released in India although as mentioned the price is expected to be 25,900 rupees( from various sources).
