HTC U11:

A struggle of HTC is very much known to everyone. The companies recent phones have failed to impress and HTC is struggling to make its products attractive enough for the customers but the competition from the likes of SAMSUNG, APPLE, LG, MOTOROLA  is making all of the comforts pretty useless.

The company has now decided to take the next device to the next level with their all new HTC U11.

The device has many features and is definitely a flagship. This phone has a feature that the company has been trying to implement since their flagship. This device has the “EDGE SENSE”. I will discuss more deeply about this feature later.

The phone has a really beautiful design. It has a glass and metal design. The phone has  3D glass on the both sides. The company says that rear glass called “LIQUID GLASS” is built using the Optical Spectrum Hybrid Deposition which is said to give vivid colours to the rare panel.

The phone has a 5.5 inch 4K super LCD 5 display. The display is crisp and beautifully integrated into the body. On the rear, we have 12 MP camera with f/1.7 aperture. The front side we have the necessary sensors along with an ear piece and 16 MP front cam with f/2.0 aperture. Below the screen, we have a home button with integrated fingerprint sensor.

An important design element is a way the glass is bent at the edges, the company claims their method gives the phone more strength.

Well, the specs are very common on all flagships, as expected the phone has Snapdragon 835. Qualcomm’s latest flagship has proved to be quite a beast, I don’t think it is necessary to go deep into the processor details as most of us already know about it. The device is coupled with an either 4 GB or 6 GB RAM depending on the storage option( 64 GB/ 128 GB). It is, fortunately, expandable up to 2 TB( do we have memory cards of that size?). I don’t think there is much to talk about the performance for this 2.45Ghz beast. Software optimisation has always been HTC’s strong point, HTC EDGE SENSE optimised software is clean and simple and doesn’t add too much weight.

The device has an excellent camera,  it rivals that of Apple’s and Samsung’s flagships. Although a dual camera setup is expected at its price range.  The camera has many features including optical image stabilisation, BIS sensor ( this sensor helps to improve low light imaginary). HTC has stated that the camera has pixels called HTC ULTRA PIXEL 3, the pixel size is 1.4 micrometre. The camera has a PRO mode for the experts and supports RAW format so that every pic you take can be enhanced. It can shoot 4K videos and has the capability of recording the 3D Audio. The company claims that the camera is the highest ever rated camera with a score of 90 on DXOMARK.

Edge Sense is a new feature that lets you control the phone by just pressing the edges of the phone. This feature lets you perform several actions including taking pictures, waking up the GOOGLE ASSISTANT. Edge sense also let us take pictures underwater where the screen does not work. Edge sense gives an animation from the edges of the screen. There sure is a chance of accidentally pressing the edges, so be careful. Although it is designed to ignore small pressures. It is a fun experience but it is still in initial stages and much more is going to come.

The phone comes with Android 7.1 with HTC Sense on top of that. The software looks pretty much optimised and works lag free. HTC SENSE adds some important features. The phone is set to give competition to the likes of Samsung S8 and Apple I phone 7 Plus.

Audio is better on HTC U11. The phone has an acoustic chamber which gives out better clarity. The phone has a woofer at the bottom and is supposedly better. Although the phone lacks 3.5 mm jack, earphones with USB C type pin are given. The earphones have active noise cancellation. A 3.5 mm to USB C is also supplied along with it in the box. The USONIC audio( the official name) is said to be much better than traditional audio.
